Description:
This was one of five images (PHIL# 9170 - 9174), depicting the action of two different mobility-challenged women getting into a bathtub by making use of an assistive in-tub seating apparatus. In this particular view, a woman, who was seated on the in-tub bench, was either exiting the tub, or entering the tub while she was grasping the nearby wheelchair for stability and support. With back support and armrests, a bathtub seat could be clamped to the tub rim for stability, and actrd as an effective, popular solution for many people with disabilities. These designs work best for those who could transfer from their mobility devices, or could walk, but have difficulty standing for extended periods of time because of balance, or stamina limitations.
