Description:
This 1994 image depicted a blind woman using a walking cane who was about to interact with a number of outdoor stairs. Ergonomically designed to accommodate all users, the stair rails were equipped with hand rail extensions, which enabled the visually impaired, such as the visitor depicted here, to tap the rail prior to interacting with the more challenging steps. Such 'add-ons' are often beneficial to both the mobility-challenged, as well as those who are not, for they are designed with underlying user universality at their core.
