Description:
In this 2004 photograph, a motorized scooter-bound woman was in the process of passing through the turnstile portal leading away from the disembarkation point of a mass-transit train station. The wider entryway was necessary, in order to allow for the passage of the wider, wheelchair vehicle, a possible scenario that need be taken into account during the design phase of such a publicly-accessible portal. Other possibilities, which would warrant the need for wider entryways, would include baby carriages or strollers, patrons carrying luggage or parcels, heavyset visitors, and people using other types of mobility aids or guide dogs. See PHIL# 9077 for the same woman entering the same turnstile.
