Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Juan Lopez does a preflight inspection on an HH-65C Dolphin prior to taking off on a training mission March 21 at Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen, Puerto Rico. The Coast Guard works with the Puerto Rican Police Department and helps them train on how to dive out from a helicopter to rescue people at sea. A former Senior Airman, Commander Lopez is an aircraft commander and the assistant operations officer at the air station. The Coast Guard provides a search and rescue capability for 1.2 million square miles around the Caribbean.
