Description:
This historical photograph, provided by the Center for Disease Control's (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), depicted a manufacturing technician inside a Norwich, New York pharmaceutical pill factory, who'd been on the job for over 30 years. At the time, he was checking the quality of pills inside a rotating pill-coating machine with a capacity of 400,000 tablets. Note that the technician was wearing no filtered breathing mask, goggles, or gloves while performing his task. This image was published in the July, 1948 issue of the 'Industrial Bulletin, New York', p. 36.
