This 2000 photograph depicted a sign displayed in Gorakhpur, India, which advertised a Pulse Polio Vaccination Program that had been scheduled to take place on February 27, 2000, the main purpose of which was to vaccinate children up to 5 years of age against polio. This image was provided by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., a STOP Transmission of Polio (STOP) immunization initiative team member and photographer. Ms. Zahniser was at the time assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
