This historic image, provided by the Center for Disease Control's (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), was shot on the floor of a Yale Towne Mfg. Co., vehicle assembly plant. Though technologic advancements made many of the formerly manual tasks easier, and faster, the potential dangers lurking inside such a factory, still mandated, and mandates even today, the adherence to strict protocols in order to create a safer working environment.In gaining a better understanding of workplace hazards, through hands-on and on-site information acquisition, protocol-formulating bodies such as NIOSH, are better able to create a safer workplace through substantiation of appropriate safety regulations.
