Description:
Depicted in this 2000 image was a woman's hand grasping a bathroom shower's mix valve, the lever design of which made it easier to turn by providing more leverage, thereby, requiring less hand strength on the part of the user. Another handle design could be more difficult to turn, especially when the user is mobility-impaired, as in the case of a victim of paralysis, those with limb deformities, or people who are fitted with prosthetic limbs. As is the case with other universally designed concepts, these utilitarian objects are easier to use for all, including those who have no mobility impairments.
