This photograph depicts the colonial morphology displayed by Gram-negative Brucella melitensis bacteria, which was grown on a medium of sheep's blood agar (SBA), for a 48 hour time period, at a temperature of 37�C. See also, PHIL 12398 for a view of this bacterial specie, colonized on modified Thayer-Martin agar, at the same temperature, but for a longer time period (72hr); PHIL 12399, for B. melitensis bacteria grown also, on SBA at the same temperature, but also, for a greater time period (72hr); PHIL 12452, for B. melitensis bacteria grown on SBA at the same temperature, but for half the time period (24hr). Brucella spp. bacteria are responsible for causing the disease known as brucellosis.
