Description:
This historic image, provided by the Center for Disease Control's (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), depicted a highly-skilled industrial worker formulating a vat of anti-persperant cream at a pharmaceutical company factory. The image was published in the July, 1948, issue of the 'Industrial Bulletin, New York', Pg. 3, and you'll note that the worker was not wearing gloves, nor was he wearing any filtered breathing devices or goggles, all of which would have protected him from noxious vapors, and accidental spatter leading to skin, or eye contamination. In gaining a better understanding of workplace hazards, through hands-on and on-site information acquisition, protocol-formulating bodies such as NIOSH, are better able to create a safer workplace through substantiation of appropriate safety regulations.
