This image was created during an investigation into an outbreak of monkeypox, which took place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), 1996 to 1997, formerly Zaire. In this particular view, epidemiologists Ali Khan, M.D. and R. Joel Williams, D.V.M. were walking through what they fondly termed, 'the fog of war', as they were off-gassing excess liquid nitrogen.
