Description:
Viewed from the reverse, or rear side, this Petri dish culture containing Sabouraud dextrose agar, had grown a single, large colony of the dermatophytic fungus, Trychophyton megninii. As seen here in this example, from the rear, colonies of this anthropophilic specie display a pale, yellowish, brown, or reddish-brown coloration, while from the front, they display a waxy to cottony appearance, and a coloration ranging from a white to bright yellowish-beige or red violet. For a frontal view of this T. megninii colony, see PHIL 14961.
