In this 2000 image, provided by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., a Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) team member and photographer, taken at a polio vaccine clinic, two female health care practitioners were administering oral polio vaccine to a child. One healthcare worker was using a dropper to drop the vaccine into the child's mouth, while the other worker was marking the child's finger with ink, in order to designate her as a recipient of the vaccine to other health care workers. Chris was assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
