The sign pictured in this 2000 image, was advertising the Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign. It stated that children up to 5 years of age should be given the polio vaccine, and was posted near the Eastern Railway station in Gorakhpur, India, which was an active supporter of the Polio program.The image was provided by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., a Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) team member and photographer, who was assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
