Photographed in 2000 by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., a STOP Transmission of Polio (STOP) immunization initiative team member and photographer, this rally outside the Deoria District Health Office proved to be an effective way to interest local residents in the upcoming polio immunization day. Appearing at the gathering were musicians and motivational speakers, in order to promote the event. At the time, Ms. Zahniser was assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
