Wearing a blue-colored sweater, this 2000 image depicted Dr. Bharti, the Varanasi Surveillance Medical Officer, as he was visiting this slum area in order to ascertain whether or not the children who'd been living in this locale, had received their polio vaccine. The photograph was provided by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., a STOP Transmission of Polio (STOP) immunization initiative team member and photographer who was assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
