Following each National Immunization Day (NID), a survey of local residents was conducted, in order to determine whether the children in each respective locale had received the recommended doses of polio vaccine, and thereby, assess efficacy of the vaccine dosages. Pictured here, carrying their questionnaires, was medical student Dr. Puja Sharma (left), Mr. Parag Sharma (center), and acting as translator, Dr. G. P. Pandy (right). This was one of a number of images provided by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., a STOP Transmission of Polio (STOP) immunization initiative team member and photographer, who was assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
