Description:
This image was created during an investigation into an outbreak of monkeypox, which took place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), 1996 to 1997, formerly Zaire. Pictured here were CDC E.I.S. Officer, Yvan Hutin, M.D., and R. Joel Williams, D.V.M., as they were working in the on-site field laboratory at night, using a borrowed U.S. Embassy generator to power the lights, computer, satellite phones, and centrifuges.
