Description:
Joe Moniot, a data administrator in the Division of Bird Habitat Conservation, served in the Army from 1969 to 1972, the Navy from 1974 to 1980 and the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1987 to 1994. In the Army, he served in Vietnam and Sandia Base Army Hospital in New Mexico. In the Navy, he served at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute, Bethesda Maryland, aboard USS Canopus AS-34, and in Rota, Spain, and Charleston, S.C. In the Naval Reserve, he served in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and was recalled to active duty for Operation Desert Storm in 1991 when he served at the VA Hospital at Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attained the rank of Specialist 5 in the Army and Lieutenant Commander in the Navy.
