Ken McDonald began his military service with the United States Marine Corps in June, 1992. During his military career, he has also served in the Tennessee Army National Guard, the Ohio Army National Guard, the United States Coast Guard Reserve and the Tennessee Air National Guard. Trained initially as an infantryman, he has also served as a combat engineer, human intelligence collector (Arabic), marine science technician and air transportation specialist. He currently serves in the Tennessee Army National Guardâs 1st Battalion, 181st Field Artillery as a HIMARS crewman. HIMARS means High Mobility Artillery Rocket System is a U.S. light multiple rocket launcher mounted on a standard Army Medium Tactical Vehicle. Over the course of his career he has served in the United States after 9-11 during Operation Noble Eagle, and on numerous deployments to countries such as Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Turkey, Egypt, Somalia, Cuba, Japan and Kosovo. He started working as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in February 2012 at the Tennessee Ecological Services Office in Cookeville, Tennessee.
