Used fire hoses, at the Beaver Creek Fire, west of Hailey, ID, that have passed inspection for serviceability, and have been mechanically wound, are organized according by type, diameter and length, then palletized for transportation to where they are needed, on Wednesday, Aug 21, 2013. Structure protection at the scale of this fire often threatens homes, infrastructure, sacred and historic locations, requiring the use of miles of hose to preposition hand lines (water hoses) for fighting fires by engine crews, and for sprinklers to keep remote homes and structures surrounding the areas wet.
