Graduation day of the 2011 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Executive Master Gardeners, on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in Washington, DC. During the past six-weeks, students contributed 40-hours of volunteer time, completed studies and testing to receive their certificates today as an Executive Master Gardener. Many of the sessions occurred before work hours, during lunchtime or at community garden project sites such as Powell Middle School. USDA challenges its employees to establish People's Gardens at USDA facilities worldwide or in community gardens. People's Gardens vary in size and type, but all have a common purpose - to help the community and the environment.
